My mornings were a shipwrecked sunrise,
You kept me company by the deck –
Where every time
A teardrop tore my eyes and dipped into the sea,
You reminded me
How much it cost
And how the sea would buy ‘em downright
As it would make her a rush of rich ripples, at once.

Now I recollect
All that you stood by me –
My morning sickness, my twilight blues, my shadowy fears…
Time after time
Being the best Captain friend,
You’d take me on a far-reaching tour
Running into a row of lampposts,
Tuning into the grooviest numbers,
Making the city look so pristine and perfect,
With every lit’l trial you made to greet the outcome –
Just so I savoured the best meals, the best sights and the best one-to-ones…
Bringing me back to life
When I had almost ended.
Cause you cared.

And today,
For all the times we’d chance upon –
From casual celebrations to thought-out times;
For all the conversations we’ve had –
From silly secrets to fanatic fantasies;
For all the semblance we’ve had –
From towering targets to interests impossible to tell apart;
For all the courage you filled me with;
For all the good that you saw in me and considered noteworthy;
For all the efforts you chose to make and still do
To watch me sail safe and smooth to the shore,
I want to gift you with that lit’l somethin’
You chose as your goal all through this –
A smile, in turn as gratitude.
