Just an assurance

It won’t take me long to give my heart away – Just an assurance.

Assurance that
I’m in safe eyes to fall and strong hands to hold.
And will be warmed up in your arms, everytime I’m cold.

Assurance that
I’m in a sea of trust, and in a ship of love I’ll float.
And the world I live in will be reverse of scorn and suspect in its throat.

Assurance that
I’ll never be treated like a wasted uselessness, and shackled in a cage.
Over and above, love will coherently be breathing at each and every stage.

Assurance that
I’m in a conversation of equal hear-n-speak.
And you’ll be my strength and pick me up whenever I’m weak.

Assurance that
You’ll walk me through my adventure fears.
And kiss my eyes, when they’ll be bloodshot with tears.

Assurance that
I’ll be your pride, your passion for a life-span.
And I’ll be your gurl forever, boy, and you’ll be my forever man.

Sweetness Gracious

At loggerheads with your mate? Remember this –

We, each of us are a box of assorted chocolates – flavoured, bitter and sweet. Everytime we’re love-struck, we give away a chocolate from our box. When the love bug is at its mischievous best, our gracious giveaways begin to multiply; eventually leaving our chocolate box empty. Now all we’re left with is assorted fragrance to offer to our love.

And though they’re now a box of bonus chocolates, our companions still stay hungry for more. Crammed with a cream of irritation, they nudge us with the most bizarre doubt – ‘Do you love me no more?’ With our hearts thumping at 180, we wonder how to clear it out. We take in our deepest breath, letting out a saccharine say –

‘I filled you with all of myself,
I poured it all in you;
I wish I was offered some of your chocolates, in turn,
Not all, at least a few!’

Moral of the story –
Expect so much sweetness that you can pass on. Ultimately it’s going to fill your box someday.

Sweet, no? ;-)

What kind of a man are you looking for?

In a brief conversation, a man asked a woman – 'What kind of a man are you looking for?'

She sat quietly for a moment before looking him in the eye and asked 'Do you really want to know?'

Reluctantly, he said, 'Yes.'

She began to expound... As a woman in this day and age, I am in a position to ask a man what he can do for me that I can't do for myself. I pay my own bills. I take care of my household without the help of any man. I am in the position to ask, 'What can you bring to the table?'

The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money.

She quickly corrected his thought and stated, 'I am not referring to money. I need something more.' I need a man who is striving for perfection in every aspect of life.' He sat back in his chair, folded his arms, and asked her to explain.

She said, 'I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection mentally because I need conversation and mental stimulation. I don't need a simple-minded man. I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection spiritually because I don't need to be unequally yoked... believers mixed with unbelievers is a recipe for disaster. I need a man who is striving for perfection financially because I don't need a financial burden. I am looking for someone who is sensitive enough to understand what I go through as a woman, but strong enough to keep me grounded. I am looking for someone who I can respect. In order to be submissive, I must respect him. I cannot be submissive to a man who isn't taking care of his business. I have no problem being submissive... he just has to be worthy. God made woman to be a helpmate for man. I can't help a man if he can't help himself.' When she finished her spill, she looked at him. He sat there with a puzzled look on his face.

He said, 'You're asking a lot.'

She replied, 'I'm worth a lot.'

This was for every woman who's worth a lot and every man who needs to know that.

How Surprised Are You?

Life is free-flowing with surprises –

Some tally with our dreams,
Some jinx with our nightmares;
Some that we habitually brag about,
Some that trigger super stares.

Some that we brood over for long,
Some that confirm our smile;
Some that conclude to the moral of our story,
Some that walk us a mini mile.

Some print panic alerts on our foreheads,
Some just make us jolly wild;
Some we secretly thank God for,
Some we selfishly hide.

Some as tiny as a new-born baby,
Some that we capture in a frame;
Some that change the way we perceive things,
Surprises beyond surprises – beyond sane.

Some cherish ‘em only when they resonate their wish,
Some be fair, and value it – irrespective;
Some choose to wear it forever skin-close,
Some don’t bother once pockets full of crores.

Some stay humble, and honest to the core;
Surprised by surprises – forevermore.

Chronic Connection

I wonder what it is
It’s more than I could phrase;
Something ‘bout his words
Full of examples beyond craze.

Whats special is
Not everyone gets it all right;
They think it’s kinda more than weird
While it makes my cheeks go up n wide.

Day by day
I’ve begun to realize
How much it’s changin’ me –
The efforts to place a smile on my lips,
The questions to hear me speak.

Know I’ve begun to give even the gods
A tough time, all night n day;
And I must say your tolerance is of finest standards
As you hold on with me without a stay.

I know, I haven’t thanked you for it all
For I don’t wanna spoil what we share -
A vibe as ‘chronic’ as you,

Weird n wonderful n fair!
